Apprenticeships

Potential apprentices (of any age) need to get a job before they can take part in these training programmes.


All training is provided free of charge. Apprenticeships normally last for three years and there are two levels – the Foundation Modern Apprenticeship at Level 2 and the Modern Apprenticeship at Level 3; both include an NVQ, Key Skills qualifications and a technical certificate.

Foundation Modern Apprenticeships

How long will it take? Up to 2 years.

What are Foundation Modern Apprenticeships?

You will follow a training programme at college and/or in the workplace, leading to NVQ Level 2, Employment Rights and Responsibilities Assignment and Key Skills units in areas such as Communication, Application of Number and Information Technology.

Modern Apprenticeships

How long will it take? Approximately 2 to 3 years.

What are Modern Apprenticeships?

You will follow a training programme at college and/or in the workplace, leading to NVQ level 3, a Technical Certificate and Key Skills units in areas such as Communication, Application of Number and Information Technology.

Modern Skills Diploma

The Modern Skills Diploma offers free training for employees working towards a level 4 framework in various sectors; some of which are included in the lists earlier. Please phone 01244 834559 for more details.

Skill Build

These training programmes are aimed at unemployed people, from 16/17 year olds to more mature adults, who need to gain confidence and/or learn new skills to help them get a job. For more details, please phone 01244 834559, or contact Careers Wales, or your local Jobcentre Plus.
