Northop Nurseries
Northop Nurseries is a wholesale cash and carry, supplying plants to both retail and amenity trade. The nursery offers a range of ornamental plants, including hardy nursery stock, pot bedding and patio plants.
Northop Nurseries was established over 30 years ago and today specialises in the growing of a wide range of hardy ornamentals and glasshouse crops. A ‘real’ commercial nursery, with the key function of providing a training resource in which our students can ‘learn’. Visit the Northop Nurseries website for more information: www.northopnurseries.co.uk or call 01352 841015.
Northop Learning Centre
We are investing £2.7 million to construct a purpose built Learning Centre for Northop College. The Project, funded by the Welsh Assembly Government, will be on two floors and is to include a multimedia learning centre, modern learning environments complete with the latest technology such as interactive whiteboards and a learning resource centre and support area packed with the latest learning resources to assist students.
Extensive care has been taken to protect existing wildlife at the site due to its location at such beautiful natural location. The design of the centre has also been planned with consideration of environmental implications and energy saving efficiency. Ground source heat pumps buried beneath the building will extract heat from the ground in order to warm water to heat the building. Natural light and ventilation will be maximised with the use of sun tubes and wind catchers and the landscaping of the build is designed to support bio diversity. Once completed, the centre will achieve the BREEAM* excellent standard for the green aspects of its design. It will also be fully compliant with the Disability Discrimination Act and will provide all students with an outstanding learning facility.
