The Deeside College Group of Colleges is setting the pace in investing in diversity.
The Group, which includes Deeside College, Coleg Llysfasi, Northop College and Wrexham Training, has launched its commitment to achieving the Investors in Diversity Award, which is facilitated by the National Centre for Diversity. Currently they are the only college in Wales to have begun this process.
The Investors in Diversity Award recognises an organisation’s all-encompassing approach to managing equality, diversity and inclusion effectively. The Deeside College Group of Colleges will now be undergoing a number of assessments to demonstrate their ability to qualify for the award.
Deeside College Principal and Chair of CollegesWales, David Jones said:
“We are extremely proud to be leading the way in investing in diversity. We are committed to ensuring that we provide excellent services, opportunities and relationships for all at Deeside College.
“This whole process will help us develop our understanding of different learner, employee, and wider community needs and to embrace these values within our future planning.
“I hope that the other Colleges in Wales will now follow in our footsteps in investing in this important issue.”
National Centre for Diversity Chief Executive Solat Chaudhry said:
“We are delighted that Deeside College are the first college in Wales to embark on the Investors in Diversity journey. In taking this important step, Deeside have gone above and beyond the call of duty and, instead, become trail blazers within their sector.
“We would like to congratulate them on their achievements to date and wish them every success on their journey towards achieving the prestigious award.”
