Northop College Independent Living Skills students have been personally thanked by the Connah’s Quay Town Chair Councillor Pam Attridge, after providing professional floral decorations for her recent Chairman’s Ball and formal dinner.
The students who are studying a floristry course within the Independent Living Skills department provided professional floral designs to decorate the room for the recent dinner event held at the Connah’s Quay Civic Centre.
Councillor Attridge approached the department to create the designs after being impressed by work that she had previously seen by the students. Following a week of preparation, the students travelled with their creations to the Civic Hall to present them to the Chair.
Northop College Head of Programmes for Independent Living Skills, Paul Raven said:
“This was an excellent opportunity for our students to showcase their work. Knowing that they had a real customer gave them additional motivation, which showed in the final designs. Being thanked personally by the Chair of Connah’s Quay was also an excellent confidence boost.”
Connah’s Quay Town Council Chair Councillor Pam Attridge said:
“I saw this event as a great opportunity to benefit the students by providing a challenge in their studies and for me personally of meeting the students. It gave me immense pleasure to have the floral designs as a finished product presented to me directly and I was interested in what the students had to say. All in all it was a very pleasing experience for everyone.”
