Deeside College is an accredited study centre for the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).
This course is designed for training administrators, independent trainers, and those involved in, or aspiring to work in, learning and development. The course lasts between six to 12 months and includes Continuing Personal and Professional Development (CPD), identifying learning needs and recommending learning opportunities, designing training materials and facilities, delivering training, assessment, review and evaluation.
There are no exams, but you will be assessed on four modules (two of which are interactive and two are written), one project work assignment and learning logs of Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
The Introduction to Trainer Skills is an intensive, two-day course, which provides the participants with a sound introduction to the concepts of a systematic approach to training. This course is accredited by City & Guilds and is known as the 7300.
This course is designed to provide the participants with a sound introduction to the concepts of a systematic approach to training. It is comprehensive in content at this level, building the skills, knowledge and abilities of a participant that is required to be an effective trainer. On completion of the Introduction to Trainer Skills, learners will equip themselves and their employer with a member of staff who is able to plan, deliver and evaluate effective training, no matter what the content of the subject they are delivering.
The course is based on the training cycle, covering three main areas:
- Planning (including session planning)
- Delivery (participants will deliver a 10 minute 'session' that they have planned)
- Evaluation (self, peer group and course evaluation).
The training will include: Assessment principles, Questioning techniques, Assessment of natural performance, Evidence collection, Devising and implementing assessment plans, Recording documentation, Assessment documentation, Types of evidence, Feedback Skills, Portfolio construction. Students can progress to Learning and Development NVQs and the Internal Verifier Award (V1) upon completion of A1 Assessors Award and practising for a minimum of 12 months within an assessing environment.
