Deeside College is an accredited centre to offer the following Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) courses:
ILM Award in Team Leading (level 2)This course is suitable for anyone working in a team leader position, or aspiring to become a team leader, and includes developing yourself as a team leader, workplace communication and leading your team. The course is an 18 hour taught programme which can be run over three days or over a number of weeks.
ILM Certificate in Team Leading (level 2)This course is aimed at supervisory level staff and team leaders. The course will develop your team leading skills and includes topics such as managing yourself, motivating the team to perform, planning and monitoring work, using information to solve problems and induction and coaching.
The course can be run over five days or over a number of weeks, to suit the needs of the organisation.
ILM Award in First Line Management (level 3)Suitable for anyone working in a first line manager/supervisor position, or owners of small businesses, this course is usually run as a five day programme (and you will need to do some additional work in your own time). The course covers solving problems and making decisions, building the team, an introduction to leadership, managing conflict and effective meetings.
There are no exams - assessment is by work based assignments.
ILM Certificate in First Line Management (level 3)This course is designed for supervisory or higher managerial staff. The course includes communication processes in the workplace, objectives and time management, motivation and performance, coaching and training your team and managing change.
This course is usually run on a day release basis for 20 weeks and you will need to do some additional work in your own time. To join this programme, you will need to have the ILM Award in First Line Management (level 3) or the ILM Introductory Certificate in First Line Management (level 3).
There are no exams but assessment will be based upon five short written assignments and one larger change management report.
ILM Award in Management (level 4)This course is suitable for those working in, or aspiring to work in, middle management positions. The course is usually run as a six day programme, but other options are available, and you will need to do some additional work in your own time.
The course covers leadership and management in organisations, interacting with people, research skills, making professional presentations and personal development. There are no exams but assessment will be based upon one work based assignment.
You may then wish to progress on to the ILM Award in Management at level 5.
ILM Award in Management (level 5)The course is suitable for those currently working in a middle management position, or who already hold a level 4 Award in Management qualification. This course is usually run as a six day programme and you will need to do some additional work in your own time.
The course will develop your skills in leadership and management, interacting with people, stress management, addressing people problems, managing individuals, developing and leading teams.
There are no exams, but assessment will be based on three work based assignments of 2,500 words each.
