Hairdressing courses have been developed to encourage all trainees to gain their qualification; currently we offer a level 1 qualification to all new starts in the salon to ensure they are able to gain the necessary skills to progress onto Foundation Modern Apprentice.

The department will discuss with salons the requirements to develop trainees in progressing towards their ability within hairdressing. We offer level 1, level 2 and level 3 qualifications in hairdressing, with level 2 for beauty therapy. All trainees must gain their key skills and ERR for the full frame work.

We can offer the following:

Foundation Modern Apprenticeships:

  • NVQ Level 2 Hairdressing - More information Link: More information
  • Key skills – Application of Number level 1, Communications level 1 and Employees Rights & Responsibilities

Modern Apprenticeships:

The current programme for the Foundation Modern Apprenticeship (FMA) route requires training and assessment within the salon, with attendance in college for 4 days in a month once every 3 months; this is to ensure he main focus is on the training in the salon with hands on experience. The college provides the written and selected practical which sometimes do not occur in the salon.

All staff are highly qualified and assess in the salons as well as in our modern salon at the main college campus in Connah's Quay.
