Food Manufacturing

The Food Manufacturing assessment team have worked with manufacturers of all sizes; from small employers with five staff, to larger companies employing five hundred people. The team liase closely with managers, departments and individuals to tailor assessments to suit the specific operation and learner’s job role.

Team members possess between them a broad range of experience across many sectors, including: dairy, ready meals, meat & poultry processing, quality auditing, warehouse & distribution and health & safety.

The Food Manufacturing Team were Fforwm Award Winners in 2005 in the category "Supporting Students to Succeed" and have successfully nominated four City & Guilds Medal for Excellence" winners. Toka Baxter was selected to receive her award from the Duke of Edinburgh at Buckingham Palace.

L2 Meat & Poultry Processing apprentice Katya Brambashka, won the Food & Drink Qualifications/Meat training Council NVQ of the year in 2009, and attended a prestigious celebration lunch at Butchers’ Hall in London.

Alicia Travis and Sonia Muller, both formerly from Headland Foods Flint, were awarded Deeside College Food Industries Student of the Year awards in 2007 and 2011 respectively.


Food Manufacturing Qualifications

Qualifications are gained through the completion of a combination of skills and knowledge units which each have a credit value. There is a clear progression route from the Level 2 Award to the Certificate and Diploma and then to L3.

The Level 2 Award is ideally suited to operatives and support staff, and the Level 2 Certificate & Diploma are suited to team leaders, Quality Assurance/Quality Control staff and key operatives.

Level 3 is ideally suited to leaders within the workplace including Quality Assurance, Quality Control, key operatives, Senior team Leaders, Supervisors and Managers.

Level 2 Award: 10-12 credits
Level 3 Award: 10-12 credits  
Level 2 Certificate: 27-36 credits  
Level 3 Certificate: 27-36 credits  
Level 2 Diploma:  37-67 credits  
Level 3 Diploma:  37-67 credits  
Proficiency in Food Industry Skills
Proficiency in Food manufacturing Excellence
