Deeside College Supports Apprenticeship Week Wales
Apprenticeship Week Wales will take place from Monday 6th February to Friday 10th February 2012.
Managers going ‘back to floor’, an engineering team challenge and networking events, these are just some of the activities that Deeside College is involved with to show its support to Apprenticeship Week Wales.
Events at Deeside College
Deeside College and its employer engagement department, Acquire Training, are also hosting a number of events during the week:
- Engineering Week Wales – 7th February at Deeside College
- Chamber Networking – 8th February at Northop College
National and regional activities will be taking place throughout the Week and include a number of key themes including:

- Apprenticeships are Good for Business
- Finding Your Perfect Match

Apprenticeship Successes
Ben Wins National Apprenticeship Award
Deeside College Motor Vehicle Apprentice Ben Morgan was left celebrating in November 2011 after winning the National Training Federation Wales (NTFW) Outstanding Apprentice of the Year.
Chris is recognised in National Award Shortlisting
Northop College Horticulture Apprentice Chris Readman, who returned to education after 30 years in a successful white collar career, was recognised on a national scale after being shortlisted for a National Training Federation Wales (NTFW) Apprentice Award.
David is named IMechE Most Improved Student of the Year
Deeside College former Engineering Apprentice and current HNC student David Cottis was named as the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) 2011 'Most Improved Student' for Merseyside and North Wales.
Adam is honoured with IET Award for Excellence
Deeside College HNC Apprentice, Adam Baker was honoured in September 2011 with the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) prestigious Award for Excellence.
Flintshire County Council Apprentices are honoured at Awards Ceremony
A number of Flintshire County Council employees who successfully completed their Apprenticeships this year were congratulated in an awards ceremony at Theatre Cymru.
City and Guilds Prestigious Lion Award is Presented to Ben
Motor vehicle apprentice Ben Morgan was presented with the Prestigious City and Guilds Lion Award at special ceremony in London.
Airbus Apprentices First to Achieve Pioneering New Qualification
Fourth year Airbus Apprentices became the first in the country to achieve to new innovative qualifications through Deeside College.
