Disabled?
Deeside College welcomes applications from people with disabilities. If you would like help in filling in the application form, please call in to see our Gwasanaethau Myfyrwyr advisers. You may also submit an application in audio format.
Step 1
Decide what course/s you want to study. You can get advice from either your Careers Advisor (if you are still at school) or you can call into our Gwasanaethau Myfyrwyr centre on our main campus site or telephone 01244 834511. You can also come along to one of our Open Evenings which will give you the opportunity to meet the tutors and discover more about the excellent facilities available.
Step 2
Once you have decided which course/s you would like to study, it's now time to submit your application. You can apply for a full-time course from November 2008 onwards, to do this either:
- Apply online
- Download an application form and post it to us (address to the right)
- Pick up a full-time prospectus and complete the application form which is attached inside
Step 3
You will be invited to attend an informal interview/discussion with a tutor and given a conditional offer (based upon obtaining certain grades) or an unconditional offer of a place on the course/s you applied for.
Once you know your results from your GCSE examinations, you should come into the college on either Thursday 27th or or Friday 28th of August 2009. We will then confirm your grades and take photocopies of your results for our records. Alternatively if you do not obtain the required grades - don't worry, this is a good opportunity for you to come in and discuss your options with us.
Once you are accepted onto the course you will need to come into the College to complete your enrolment and to pay the £10 registration fee (please remember to bring payment with you when enrolling). The college will contact you to confirm the start date and times of your course.
Step 4
Start college and enjoy learning new and exciting subjects! You will meet and make new friends in readiness for employment or higher level study at a University!
Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) Disclosure
There are some courses that we offer which require you to complete a Criminal Record Bureau check. These include courses where there is regular, unsupervised contact with children or vulnerable adults.
If you do have a criminal record, you will not necessarily be stopped from gaining a place on the course, it will depend on the nature and background of any offence.
There are other circumstances where having a criminal record may affect your study. Courses such as Public Services, where your career would be in the uniformed services, fall into this category. If you have a criminal record, you may be eligible to attend the course, but once completed, you career options in the public services would be limited as a direct result of the offence committed. You are not required to complete a CRB check to attend this type of course but you may wish to speak with a Gwasanaethau Myfyrwyr Adviser about whether your criminal record would limit your career options.
Please contact Gwasanaethau Myfyrwyr if you need any further advice; all discussions will be dealt with in strict confidence.
