Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) Disclosure
There are some courses that we offer which require you to complete a Criminal Record Bureau check. These include courses where there is regular, unsupervised contact with children or vulnerable adults.
If you do have a criminal record, you will not necessarily be stopped from gaining a place on the course, it will depend on the nature and background of any offence.
There are other circumstances where having a criminal record may affect your study. Courses such as Public Services, where your career would be in the uniformed services, fall into this category. If you have a criminal record, you may be eligible to attend the course, but once completed, you career options in the public services would be limited as a direct result of the offence committed. You are not required to complete a CRB check to attend this type of course but you may wish to speak with a Student Services Adviser about whether your criminal record would limit your career options.
Please contact Student Services if you need any further advice; all discussions will be dealt with in strict confidence.
