Absence

If your son or daughter is ill and unable to attend college, they must phone into college before 9.15am to report this to the appropriate Programme Area office (please see the table below for details). If they do not speak to one of the administrative assistants, they should leave a message on the answer machine stating the reason that they are unable to attend college i.e. give details of their illness. In extreme circumstances, you may contact the college on their behalf.

Students should not arrange routine doctor’s/dentist’s appointments or driving lessons when they should be attending classes, and holidays must not be taken in term-time.

Please note - if you contact any other college number to report student absence, it will not be recorded and, if your son or daughter is entitled to EMA payments, they may not receive their payment for that week. Visit the Money matters page to find out more about EMA payments.
