Toy Box Nursery Celebrate World Book Day

Deeside College
All the children of the Toy Box Nursery at Deeside College celebrated World Book Day on Thursday 4th March 2010.

The 18 month to two and a half year olds in the Butterfly room read Mr Men and Little Miss books. To coincide with Welsh week the oldest children at the nursery showed off their grasp of the Welsh language by reading a Welsh story.



Brickwork students build a house in 24 hours!

In a recent sponsored 24 hour bricklaying marathon, Brickwork students at Deeside College laid over 6,000 bricks, the equivalent to a two storey house! In the process they raised over £500 for the College’s chosen charity Papyrus.

The group made up of Pathways to Apprenticeships learners, devised the innovative fundraising challenge as part of their Welsh Baccalaureate qualification.



Art & Design Students are Stars in Starbucks

Deeside College
Art and Design students from Deeside College have had a unique opportunity to showcase their work at world famous coffee chain Starbucks.

Five students from the Introductory to Art and Design and First Diploma in Art and Design course will be displaying project work in the Chester branch throughout February. This is the first opportunity that all five have had to publicly display their work.



Harry Takes Step Closer to Young Horticulturist of the Year

Deeside College Horticulture student, Harry Shaw (20) of Mancot has shown his commitment to nurturing a top career in horticulture, this week winning the College Regional Heat of the Institute in Horticulture’s (IoH) Young Horticulturist of the Year Competition.

Harry who is currently undertaking a Level 1 Diploma in Work based Horticulture will now go through to the North West and North Wales Heat of the Competition where he will compete against other young budding horticulturists.
