Outstanding A level results at Deeside College

Deeside College
Deeside College students and staff are celebrating their outstanding A level results today.

Students achieved 100% pass rates in thirteen of the seventeen A2 level subjects delivered at the College, with an above national average overall College pass rate of 97.2%. A2 Photography students at the College had particular reason to celebrate with 29% achieving the new A* grade.



Apprentices Give Back to Community

Deeside College electrical apprentices from Airbus in the UK have this week presented a specially designed and built activity board to the Community Living Project in Connah’s Quay.

As part of their Intermediate Welsh Baccalaureate Qualification the first year apprentices were asked to put their electrical skills to good use and design an activity board suitable for adults with learning difficulties.



Staff Fall 10,000 feet for Young Persons Charity

A group of courageous catering and security professionals from Deeside College have raised £2000 for a charity aimed at preventing teen suicide by performing a freefall parachute jump.

The group made up of Sodexo catering employees and College security personnel performed the breathtaking task for the College’s chosen charity of the year, PAPYRUS.



Teen Cuisine has right Ingredients for Flintshire Junior Chef

Students from six Flintshire High Schools have recently turned their hands to cookery by attending the highly successful Teen Cuisine Master Class at Deeside College.

This year, Year 9 & 10 pupils from across the county attended the week long course which culminated with the naming of two of the students who will now go on to compete in the finals of the Flintshire Junior Chef of 2010.
